Why Return to the Wild? /

Origins

This isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of what we believe in. We’re here to create work that matters, led by a shared commitment to quality and care.

What to Expect

at our retreats

  • We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect—so the experience feels both focused and fluid.

  • Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

  • Led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

  • Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

  • We often include optional check-ins, next steps, or community resources to help you keep the momentum going.

The Return to the Wild

Experience

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

“Take the leap! It’s such an incredible experience being surrounded by like minded writers who will support you and cheer you on.” - Julia R.

  • Yes. We highly recommend you do your best to attend the entire retreat. Arriving late or leaving early will mean you won’t get the full experience. This might mean you fly to Glasgow a day early to ensure your timely arrival. Arriving early can also help you get through those worst hours of jet lag if you’re coming from a different part of the world.

Accommodations at Brownber Hall will only be available to you during the retreat, but you are more than welcome to book your own pre- or post-retreat yourself. Any travel you do before or after the retreat will be on your own budget and is not included or affiliated with the Return to the Wild Writing Retreat.

  • We will provide a detailed packing list in July. If you like to prepare extra, extra early, think autumn in northern England. Cool gusts of wind, potential warm spells, mud, rain, and sunshine. Among other things, Marina will be bringing her waterproof hiking boots, an umbrella, and (waterproof) jackets to layer.

  • You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

  • Yes! Although, if you’re an extra hungry hobbit like Marina, consider bring your own non-perishable stash just in case you get peckish!
